Nova Elm Academy (NEA) promises to explore and deliver new pursuits in teaching and learning. We are constantly trying to provide better resources and tools for our students, teachers, and faculty to so that learning becomes easier, fun, and informative. We have made a number of these resources available for our community to explore and our school will provide subscription for the most comprehensive programs that encompass a wide variety of fields.

What is Project Based Learning (PBL)?

DreamBox Learning is an adaptive online K-12 math program designed to complement classroom instruction and deliver results. It provides students with over 1,800 lessons presented as animated adventures, games, and challenges that re-enforce the class lessons and concepts.
Coolmath.com offers “math for ages 13-100” — explanations that are easy to grasp on topics like algebra, pre-calculus and more. This site is where logic & thinking meets fun & games. These games have no violence, no empty action, just a lot of challenges!
With a comprehensive K–12 curriculum, students can learn Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish through the use of IXL. With more than 8,000 skills, IXL has content to support almost anything that’s taught in school and tests to measure students’ knowledge.
Raz-Kids is a comprehensive leveled reading resource for students. With hundreds of eBooks offered at 29 different levels of reading difficulty, it’s easy to put the right content in every student’s hands. Every eBook is available in online and mobile formats, and allows students to listen to, read at their own pace, and record themselves reading it.
Prodigy has content from all major topics and will seamlessly cover Grades 1 – 8 to help ensure your students are ready for standardized testing. Prodigy Games provide math games that have been proven to improve student scores and confidence!
Reading A-Z is among the family of Learning A-Z websites providing affordable, online curriculum resources. Reading A-Z has thousands of downloadable, projectable, and printable teacher materials for effective reading instruction.
National Geographic Kids is a fact-filled, fast-paced magazine created especially for ages 6 and up. With an award-winning combination of photos, facts, and fun, National Geographic Kids has captivated its readers makes it fun to explore your world with weird, wild, funny, scientific and wacky videos and images.
Newsela is an Instructional Content Platform that supercharges reading engagement and learning in every subject. Newsela is a database of current events tailor-made for classroom use. Indexed by broad theme (e.g. War and Peace, Arts, Science, Health, Law, Money), stories are both student-friendly and can be accessed in different formats by reading level.
Scholastic News Online is a free resource with breaking news and highlights from the print magazine. Available for grades 1-6, Scholastic News magazine brings high-interest current events and nonfiction to millions of classrooms each week. Scholastic New magazines cover the latest topics to enhance instruction in math, science, reading, social studies, and more.
Time for Kids is a division magazine of Time magazine that is produced especially for children. It contains some national news, a “Cartoon of the Week”, and other features in its weekly eight pages. With exclusive access to TIME’s award-winning content, TIME for Kids is uniquely positioned to teach kids to recognize and value authentic and trustworthy journalism.
Starfall covers language arts and mathematics for preschool, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and third grade. Starfall’s emphasis on phonemic awareness, systematic sequential phonics, and common sight words along with audiovisual interactivity has proven effective in teaching emergent readers. Starfall’s activities are research-based and align with Individual and State Standards in English language arts and mathematics.
BrainPop is a group of educational websites with over 1,000 short animated movies for students in grades K-12 (ages 6 to 17), together with quizzes and related materials, covering the subjects of science, social studies, English, math, engineering and technology, health, and arts and music.
Good Character is an educational and socially emotional learning resource for teachers. Good Character requires doing the right thing, even when it is costly or risky. With Good Character every choice you make helps define the kind of person you are choosing to be and you don’t have to take the worst behavior of others as a standard of comparison for yourself. Good Character provides resources for teach Elementary, Middle, and High School curriculum.
ACT Aspire assesses student readiness in English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing. ACT Aspire incorporates multiple question types including constructed response, selected response, and technology-enhanced items to better assess student knowledge and provide more meaningful insights. ACT Aspire offers a system of annual vertically articulated, standards-based system summative assessments linked to ACT College Readiness Benchmarks and other sets of state standards.

It’s true that ACT is known for the ACT® test, but there are many more ways that ACT solutions can help on the path to college and career readiness for students who are on their to college. Everything you need to know about registering for the ACT, important dates, test preparation, what to expect on test day, your scores, and much more! ACT® test are required by some colleges and therefore its vital that preparations are made in order to do well and receive a good score.
